Question concerning the Steam version of Resurrection of Evil.

I have the non-Steam version of Doom 3 (I bought it not long after it was released). I want to know if the Steam version of the expansion Resurrection of Evil will still be compatible with my Doom 3. Normally I wouldn't be concerned, but I have heard of people having issues with compatibility between a game and its expansion when one is bought off of Steam, and one isn't. If anyone here has bought the original Doom 3 elsewhere, then downloaded RoE from Steam, I'd be much obliged if you could attest to whether or not they work together. Thanks for any help.Question concerning the Steam version of Resurrection of Evil.
da da bump, I want to know also :DQuestion concerning the Steam version of Resurrection of Evil.
RoE isn't a standalone expansion - as in the two versions need to be in the same folder so that they can share files. With that said though you could probably install DOOM 3 where Steam would install DOOM 3 (Steam\steamapps\common\doom 3) and then install RoE, which will make a d3xp folder in that doom 3 folder. It would probably work. You do know about the id Software Super Pack though, right? $70 for nearly the entire id Software catalog? (minus quake 4 and a few hexen 2 packs). It's a good deal if you'd go back and play through the older games. I'm playing the quake 2 mission packs right now. :)
Steam and non-steam games are compatible as long as they don't use the source engine. So yes, it will work using the method said in the above post.
Doesn't Steam say right on the page where you purchase the expansion, that it is not compatible with the none steam version.....
I don't know, I didn't actually read the page, I just saw that RoE was available to download from Steam. My apologies if it does say that, I didn't think to actually read the info on the download. o_0
I looked again and it says ''Requires the Steam version of Doom 3 to play'', so i just assume its not compatible with the non-steam version, I'm sure its possible, but probably not easy.sorry I didn't mean any disrespect with the
That's okay, none was taken.
