There is some update that is needed for the game (not the drivers) that Vista will automatically tell you that you need, and will ask you if you want to download it. I'm not sure how you get it with XP, though, as it won't automatically notify you of it. Anyway, this update is supposed to fix that crash.I have The Crysis Demo, but it always freezes at the parachute part, any help?
I'm on vista. And I never got any update.

I have the same problem when I try to run the game in 64 bit. Run it in 32 bit and it will work. I did hear there were problems for the EA preloads in which people(like me) that set their clock forward to begin downloading early. I'm going to uninstall before I go to bed and re download and see if that fixes it.
Well, when my father tried to enter the game on his computer, Vista automatically told him of some update the game likely needed to run properly.

Oh, ok. Still has problems.I downloaded the DIrect X thing, still won't work properly. I'll try a bit more, and then I'll just get the worldwide demo tommorow, hopefully that one will work.

If you're running an nVidia GPU, there is a new Beta release of a driver on their website.
It was released just yesterday, and I've downloaded the 169.01 version for my Vista. Not sure about XP, but you should look. Hope this helps.
- Beta driver for GeForce 6, 7, and 8 series GPUs.
- Recommended driver for Crysis single player game demo.
- Several game and application compatibility fixes. Please read the release notes for more information on product support, features, driver fixes and known compatibility issues.
THe 163.75 driver fixed it for me. Thanks.
I think I have the same problem as you. I have Vista and it free\es now and again but I can play it for good periods of time. It did ask me for a Windows update but I skipped it. Probably an essential update then I guess.
