Undecided.. From the demo I honestly was not impressed abou tthe graphics.. Some parts looked great, others look absolutely drab, this is with almost everything on high except shaders.. The action was alright, the suit imo was nothing really eye opening.. Though I did like the weapon customizability.. In the end I have to say that I will probably be gettinga few games before I even think about Crysis.Crysis, Buy or No Buy? Judging by the demo.
I liked it, though I was a bit dissapointed with the performance. Looked absolutely fantastic though, and the gameplay is solid. Too many games comming out in november though, and frankly, I am getting a little tired of FPS's...Crysis, Buy or No Buy? Judging by the demo.
I feel just about the same way Sub feels.
Dude i upgraded my pc for games like crysis. Spent about $2250 for a sweetpc and 24'' monitor(Australian dollars) I am buying the game for sure.I got it kinda preorderd with 15% retail discount, but i m not spending $120 AUfor a medal case, unless it came with video stepby stepinstructions on how to use the sandbox editor. If you can run the game good why not get it?. The multyplayer is going to kick @ss and there are 2 total conversion mods been made for crysis
I was very happy with it. I didn't pay too much attention to all the hyped and didn't get my hopes way up high. Took the game for what it was and I had a lot of fun playing through the demo. Looks fantastic, runs well (probably not as well as the final product will), and plays well.Looks/Performance:The game looks absolutely stunning. After running it on ''Very High'' I am very impressed with what the developers have managed to do with their technology. There are areas that were pretty much photorealistic. The character models are amazing, especially the little details you see on the suits of team members. The faces are the most realistic i've ever seen in any game. There were a few nuances that the creators threw in that caught my attention and just made me go ''ooooohhhh.'' To name a few: -Leaves move out of the way when you push through them. Which brings about another point: The foliage looks really good.-When you emerge from underwater, you can see the water dribble off of your visor.Gameplay:Overall, i thought the game played really well. For a demo, it was really well optimized. The final product will probably be even better. It runs pretty smooth. I had framerates that were very playable with all settings turned on ''Very High'' with 4x AA. I can only imagine how well it will work with the DX10 options enabled. The enemy AI is acceptable, though i've seen better. I can't really say much except that i really enjoyed it. The only thing that was kinda disappointing was the weapons accuracy and damage. I'd have my sight directly on a targets chest about 150m away, and none of the bullets would hit, or they would hit but the target would not drop. Or, the more likely cause, i just can't aim worth a crap :) One thing i would consider changing is the way that you switch between the suit's options. Maybe i was too stupid to see it (probably the case), but it would be a lot easier if you didn't have to hit Mouse3 just to change the suit's ''mode.'' If i could switch between armor/cloak/speed/strength by just hitting a key on the keyboard instead of having to hit Mouse3 and moving the mouse, it would be that much easier.I can say with confidence that Crysis definitely has my money. I think the main reason people are disappointed with it is because they got their hopes too high and expected something out of this world. You have to remember that a FPS is a FPS and they all, more or less, play the same. Not much is going to change from the fundamental point and shoot platform.
I played it several times. I have no interest in buying it. It ran well at 1280x1024 at low settings on my rig. AMD 3500+, 2G Ram, 512 7600GS. The only hitches were around checkpoints. I do have to say it did look really good in some spots. Like the characters and such. Tossing dudes around was fun for a bit but it got tiresome. It just doesn't interest me enough and there are too many other games coming out. Maybe later next year.
Crysis is fun and I'm getting great performance, with all settings on high--Windows XP. I may try it on Vista just to see what happens. I'll definitely buy the game. The nano suit allows for some interesting tactical situations and that's a lot of fun to play with, as are the destructible environments. I accidently knocked down a shack and am looking at ways to use that to my advantage on another play through. There are only a couple things I'd personally nitpick. The tropical setting definitely has the same art direction as Far Cry. I was a bit surprised at how much--perhaps too much. The dialogue and most especially the audio barks are embarrassingly bad. I wish that all games focused on this as much as Bioshock. It would be nice if there was a specific setting to change those barks to Korean that didn't involve a difficulty setting. Again, that's nitpicking. I'm interested to see how the frozen and zero gravity parts of the game play out.I've noticed quite a few people saying on various boards that Crysis is just Far Cry in a prettier package, it's just another shooter, etc. I think if you play this game as a straight run and gun that's probably the case, and you'll be disappointed after 18 months of hype. But, if you look at the tactical options you have and use those to your advantage, it's an entirely different game--and a far more interesting one.
Lots of truth in your post, especially that last bit. I'm running it on Vista Ultimate and it's working incredibly well.
