Steam download help

How do you set your download locations for steam? And why is the download speed so unstable?Steam download help
Don't put that garbage on your comp man...Steam download help
Hey Lonelynight! Are you trying to save files to a different drive? Then you have the same problem as me. I had to reinstall steam to another drive! But you can transfer all game content to that drive and it is as if it was already downloaded.About the speed...man that is always an issue, but patience gets you there.
hmm no complaints here about speed.. I get an average of 600+ Kb/sAlso if you wish you can back up your games so you don't have to redownload the content.. Under: File, Backup GamesYou should be able to move those backup files wherever you wish, since you can make backup files of CD-R length or DVD-R length. I personally have never used it... though I should.. but to do that I would need a new external drive to hold all my content.. (I hate making DVD-Rs)

Just to clarify, if I install Steam on to a different drive, I wont have to re-download all my games again? and how do I transfer all the game content?

[/QUOTE] Nope, you'll just have to copy the gamefiles to their respective directories on the new drive. When you start up steam, it will recognize that you have already the content on its folder, and since you own the licence it will analize them and put them at 100% ready.I did this with a buddy that came to play at my house (awww just like kindergarden) I had Red orchestra installed, and Instead of waiting for him to dl the game at my wife's computer, we simply copied via LAN the content of the RO folder from my computer. He just logged in with his account and STEAM recognized the files.Hope that helps. :)
