In short,
It sucks, don't buy it.My Clive Barker';s Jericho Review
I like Clive Barker and thought the demo was pretty good, but I'll wait until the price goes down.
This is a $19.95'er.
id say it should be a 29.95..and no its not worth it
I really want to get my hands around this one... The demo was pretty sweet.
Graphics are average. That's not really a bad thing. The graphics still look pretty good. But the graphics are really nothing special. The gameplay kinda sucks in my opinion. Some people said how the game tries something new. Well, please explain to me what ''new'' the game tries. It's a very repetetive and a generic shooter. The game screams console from the beginning ''Press enter to continue,'' to the ''wave of monsters'' that come at you trough out the game, to the generic and simplified gameplay.
WHat kind of system are you guys running to say these graphics are average? Compared to what? Crysis? They are as good as any other game out right now from what I could tell.

FPSs in general have generic and simplified gameplay, so no reason to diss consoles just because some devs are lazy.

I'm getting frames from 32-55.

If all FPS games are simplified, how would a non-simplified FPS game look like? How would anybody know? There's no logic in what you are saying. All encounters in Jericho are like this: Long hallway, you are in the middle of the hallway. Monsters spawn infront of you and keep respawning until you've killed 20 or more of them. Sometimes during this time a few of them will try to sneak up behind you, that's the most exciting thing that can happen during the entire wave. You hold down your mouse button non-stop and it's mindless action for about 5 minutes. After killing a few thousand monsters, the wave has ended and you can finally take a step forward. After going around a corner, you repeat the whole thing again. You thought Doom3 was bad with the Imp around every corner? Imagine 20 or 30 Imps. Ugh... You go around a corner, you quickly notice how it's another hallway type area. On both sides of the room you see again an obstacles that you can hide behind and in the midle a sandbag. All you think about is: ''Well, this time let's get behind the left side, to mix it up a little...''The whole game is about standing at one spot and holding down your mouse button for a few minutes until you've killed a few thousand monsters then you move to the next wave. In between waves your ammo and health gets replenished. The savegame system is also clearly a console brand. After every wave, you reach a ''checkpoint''. The level design sucks. Levels are boring. The graphics sometimes look nice, yeah (Still, it's nothing good or special). But apart from the graphics, there is nothing good about the level design. It gets really boring when you keep running down the hallway type areas. You never interact with the environment in anyway, apart from the little scripted scene that you get once an hour. The story is very weak and the presentation is very bad.The AI sucks and is very basic. Then again, the AI doesn't need to be very advanced if all they need to do is move down a long hallway. But still the AI sucks, even for a basic AI. Every time there was a way to get next to the AI (as in coming from their side), it would clearly show you that the AI wasn't made to deal with something that is not coming from their front. They would for example just stand there behind cover, trying not to get shot by the rest of your team. Even if you would be standing next to them and unload your gun at them, they would still be standing behind the cover doing nothing. If you are standing somewhere where you aren't supposed to be standing, the AI would simply ignore you. Instead of attacking you, or even noticing you, they would instead move to your AI teammates who are standing at the ''expected route''.This game is clearly simplified for consoles. Halo is suddenly an awesome game, compared to this port! I actually think that this game is so much simplified, that you can use this post as a walktrough!
My question is: Why do you blame consoles for poor gameplay and AI? Let's see: Vegas, Orange Box, Quake 4 (not the best FPS, but still), Graw (to some extent), I could go on. Identical gameplay if you look past the controlscheme (KB+M vs controller). The levels, the AI, almost everything is the same and in most cases done very well both on the PC and the Xbox. You are saying that consoles are to blame for uninspired level design and AI, while I'm saying devs are to blame. If they were as talented as Valve, they would have nailed both aspects of the game on all the platforms.
And yes, most FPSs are pretty simple, it's point and shoot for God's sake, don't have to be a genius to do that. SS2 and Deus Ex are a couple exceptions, but those are rare.
