So i just bought an epic XPS comp from dell and cant get DSL until the end of the month do to my location (which just so happens to be in a huge freakin neighborhood where there should be no problem). It is killing me not being able to play any games on it because they all seem to take the internet to play and install. Before I go to move this beast, I have read that you have to download a lot of content to play ''The orange box'' but couldnt find any info if you actually need the internet to play the offline games. Can anyone help me out??Do I need the internet to play or just install ';The Orange Box?';
you need to activate it (some games need updates) and then you can switch to offline mode.. I think.. Do I need the internet to play or just install ';The Orange Box?';
Yes, you do need an internet connection to activate the games over Steam.
Once I activate them, can I run them in offline mode? Thanks for the fast responses.

Yes. Of course, Team Fortress 2 is a multi-player only game, so you'll have to be online to play that.
for some reason i cant play half life 2 in offline mode. any suggestions

Make sure you have your user-name and password saved in Steam, so that it automatically logs you in. Then shut off Steam, and physically unplug the ethernet/phone cable from your computer. Then start up Steam, and it should give you the option.
