How much longer will BF2 be around for?

Well I play and love BF2. I just find the gameplay great and the way I work towards new medals, badges and ribbons means I keep coming back for more......but how much longer will it be before people stop playing it?I honestly don't know but its proved a massive success and other massively successful pastgames like CS 1.6 are still going reasonably strong. So how long do you think?:?How much longer will BF2 be around for?
Good question, it still has a while yet to go :P Yeah, that's vague, but if you keep an eye on Xfire's top games, BF2 is always there + no game comes close to it's popularity for modern combat + supposedly there are still servers for 1942 even. EA's true support was lost a long time ago.I'd guess maybe 3 years before it's difficult to find a server, uh maybe :) Alot also depends on if another modern combat game comes out that can replace it, maybe COD4, or maybe a BF3.I had ALOT of fun with BF2, but I'm not playing it any longer, I found it too time consuming (if you are competitive in nature) and wanted to enjoy many other games...yet  I am still looking forward to COD4, maybe that will be the one to draw people away from BF2.Ask the ''experts'' :P :P http://forums.bf2s.com http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/index.php How much longer will BF2 be around for?
until ea release a BF3?

As long as EA supports it. 3 Years maybe?
Not long enough for me to get a decent score... :?
FYI xfire-stats aren't accurate. CS 1.6 isn't going 'reasonably strong'. CS 1.6 has more players than CS:S and it's been in the top5 best selling games all platforms here in sweden atleast 6 months straightIf you want BF2 to last, keep playing it! There's a big enough fan base to keep that game going even after ET:QW comes out, and eventually you'll get BF3 which'll probably be awesome, so I think you're safe.

I believe that the answer to this is: as long as people keep playing it on ranked serversThe explanation: If a bunch of guys want to play the game, they will pay for a server. And in fact, they will pay for a RANKED server so they can get their points and awards tracked. Now, EA has a ''partnership'' with the guys that maintain those ranked servers. This means that EA gets money from everyone that pays for a ranked serverWell, the bottom line is that BF2 will last as long as gamers are paying to keep their ranked servers up (as I said before, this is because EA is getting part of that money). So, if you like BF2, keep playing and supporting (if you can) those ranked servers!!!
It'll go on for a loooong time. There are still people that play Delta Force Landwarrior. Granted it may be a smaller amount of people but it's still going. I don't even think EA can beat the popularity of BF2. BF2142 came close but didn't overpower BF2 and make it obsolete. Hell, Vietnam is still around with people playing it. BF3 would have to be pretty damn phenomenal to replace BF2. CoD4 still has yet to be seen. I hope they change the gameplay a bit. I just enjoy more of the teamwork aspect of BF2 over CoD2.
Its going to last a pretty long time. People are rank hungry so it keeps going and going.
People are rank hungry so it keeps going and going.
I agree. The main reason why people play BF2 is because of the stats system. Players get ''addicted'' to stats and its very gratifying to get that shiny new badge after hours and hours of effort.
bf2 will be around even past call of duty4 i love it my fav class is spiner and there is noting more rewarding thansnipering some idiot in the head a click away.
i love bf2 also but its more fun when you have someone to play with and my friends never play it someone wants a game add my xfire - tom010 . thanks!
i have never understood why people like counter strike, you die very easily and the whole no respawn thing is just a pain in the arse especially when trying to learn the game . if counter strike had respawns and different game types like r6 vegas i reckon it would rock . as for bf2 people will play it for a long time i reckon about 4-5 years before people stop, i play about 3-4 times a week i like the game but i am waiting for something better to come a long, hopefully crysis has a good multiplayer aspect but don't count your chickens yet. remember QWET what a let down. give FEAR a go online it's a lot of fun but there are no rank system or rewards that's probably what lets it down

There are four different gametypes in CS but nobody plays them lol
As long as EA supports it. 3 Years maybe?
EA stopped releasing patches a year ago.But still for years. People still play BF42 thanks to the great mods and BF2 is getting some great mods too.

I thought the Swedish flag looked like this

How much do you think sales in Sweden affect total sales?Yes, CS 1.6 has more players than CS:S, but it's also much older.
