Do you have to have Half life 2 to play Half life episode 1? I have a question.....................

If you want to understand the story a little better it would be good to play Half Life 2, because Episode 1 starts off right where the main game left off.
I would recommend it, but then again, I never played half-life 1 and loved HL2, although I don't know if there was a continuation, I just jumped into the story. Ill probably get HL1, after all, they preloaded it to my PC, so they (valve) are begging me to play it. :)just get the orange box!!!

Orange Box is $49.95 on Steam and it's a much better deal just to get the whole thing than each individually. You get five games for $50 instead of just Episode 2 for $30.

You are going to finish episode 1 and be left wondering what happens in the next installment and quite possibly end up purchasing Ep2 later on down the road. Instead you want to just play a single game right in the middle of it all, not knowing what's happened prior to it and what's going to happen afterwards. I wouldn't pass up the chance of purchasing the Orange Box while it has the price tag that it does on it. It's 5 awesome games, for a great price. I mean, there is a good chance you will fall in love with Portal and after you play through Ep1 I'm sure you will be compelled to play Ep2. And also having TF2 in the background just waiting to be played is a plus.
