Favorite !Holy Crap! moment in PC gaming...

I want everybody to list their favorite OH %$#@!!! moments in PC games. Some of my favorites are... (spoilers!!!)Prey: You walk into a room with a glass case in the center and spend a couple minutes trying to figure out what it is. You walk through the next portal and... BAM! you are in the case!Half-Life 2: I think its the start of the 3rd to last chapter when you enter the citidel. You walk through a tunnel and when you reach the end you see it (the citidel). That was easily the best part of the game for me, reminded me of something out of LOTR.Favorite !Holy Crap! moment in PC gaming...
In HL2, when you're in the malfunctioning portal and you get sent underwater... My speakers were really loud and that fish scared me... :lol:Favorite !Holy Crap! moment in PC gaming...
Probably it was in Halo, the first time I played it.It was the level where you're on the island and have to retrieve something from it. It was towards the end when around the corner, popped out this Gold Elite with a Plasma Sword, I was like.. WTF?! and got slashed
Playing Half-life 1, when they send you underwater with a crossbow to kill the Massive fanged-fish thingy. When that thing lunged at me I just about **** out my heart
any time im playng HL or HL2 and a headcrab attacks me when im not expecting it......pretty fing scary!!!!
In HL 1, the surfacetension lvl spoilers - After completing the earlier missions with the aim of reaching the soldiers. when i finally reached them thinkingi would be a hero for killing these monster, hey started open firing on me, i was like wtf ??.this effect would have been possible without valves funda of seeing everthing as they happens through your eyes.I still remember the scientist who ran towards the soldierssaying 'thank god its the marine' and god creamed in a second
First time I encountered a Cyberdemon while playing Doom II: Hell on Earth, I was wowed and scared all at the same time. Mind you it was also my first PC game ever and I was blown away by how much fun it was playing that game on a computer and with mouse and keyboard from that day on I was hooked. Man those where the day for sure, back in '94.
I headshotted a guy in TF2 and he headshotted me at the same time.
When I played the Crysis Demo on MaX settings.
In Vampire the Mascarade Bloodlines when you first encounter the werewolf, total complete panic for me. Especially after losing him and hiding in the bathroom... and then having him bust through the wall like a maniac. goddamn werewolves.
Word man.. That scene was spectacular that they were able to make such a creature do such things in the game.. I havn't seen a single game do something like that.. Another was in Freespace 2 when the Collossus came out of hyperspace for the first time.. 6km ship.
In ''Asteroids'' when the asteroids really start going fast and the music beat gets all fast! ''Dunt - Dunt - Dunt - Dunt- Dunt''!!You did say ''first''....
Oh you said ''favorite'' not first.. oh well...
Another Holy Crap moment was in the original Doom, chapter one when you walk out and out came two massive minotaursfrom both chambers.. Both creatures you never seen before specially tha tsize and the roar they make in the beginning..
All the custscenes of maxpaine1. But the very best (and that blowed my mind) was the cutscene of the detonating door in slowmo ... (only for fans of the game in the bank chapter)I saved the game to see that moment undreds of times and to show to my friends that i was runing that game on a Celeron 266 with 64mb of RAm.
Playing Half-life 1, when they send you underwater with a crossbow to kill the Massive fanged-fish thingy. When that thing lunged at me I just about **** out my heart
definitly would have to agree. I was standing outside the water and looking in, just thinking to myself ''Do I REALLY have to do this?btw, sort of off topic. but has anyone noticed that water in slightly scary or horror games is generally bad? always something creeping in there... come out of the water in F.E.A.R. and BAM! theres Alma. crazy litte b...
GTAIII (the first GTA game I played) when I first realized I could walk around, steal a car, get on the subway, and go anywhere I wanted in this big virtual world map!The first time you experienced ''free will'' in a game has to trump all!
I think the water in Bioshock screws up the whole ''water in horrorish/scarier games is bad'' problem ;).My favorite ''wow!'' moment has got to be in Oblivion when you're escorting Martin to the Cloud Ruler Temple and you get to that one bridge that overlooks Imperial City... I thought to myself ''wow, I mean WOW, they weren't kidding.''One of my favorite ''holy crap'' moments has got to be your first encounter with a Grey alien running loose in the Versa-Life labs in Deus Ex. And pretty much anything that happens when I get to an empty corner in System Shock 2, but ''favorite'' is probably a bad word... Or maybe that crazy huge cyclops driller thing chasing me in Half-Life 1 when you have to rush to electrocute it. I don't think I was really spooked before these. And I haven't even played those games in years... wow.At the moment, though, the first Houdini splicer in Bioshock is still pretty fresh - eep!
Just about any battle in Freespace 2 where big ships were involved, because damn those ships were big. But if you want me to be more specific probably the mission where the Colossus goes down and the last mission.Thief: The Dark Project. The cutscene where The Trickster reveals himself, probably my biggest Oh **** moment in gaming as well as one of my favorite cutscenes.
In HL 1, the surfacetension lvl spoilers - After completing the earlier missions with the aim of reaching the soldiers. when i finally reached them thinkingi would be a hero for killing these monster, hey started open firing on me, i was like wtf ??
Yeah, that was a very cool moment for Herrick as well. I was very surprised when that happened and it is very rare when a game does that to me. One of my favorite Holy Crap Moments was when ''you know what'' was revealed in Knights of the Old Republic and no, unfortunately I am not talking about Bastila's boobs.
fresh meat!
