I want to buy a new RTS game an I can't decide between Company of Heros or DoW. I don't care at all for the single player. I'm looking for a competitive multyplayer experiance sort of like war3 (which I love dearly but after all these years am getting a little tired with it). Which one is more competitive and which one has more players playing?Company of heros or DoW?
Of those 2 coh, but in my opinion, if you looking for a competitive online rts, I would condsider World in Conflict(try the Demo), Since that's probably the best multiplayer experience I've ever had.Company of heros or DoW?
Oddly, I prefered DoW, mainly because the WWII genre is so overpopulated. Company of Heroes has more polish, though, so you may enjoy it more.
CoH then
I personally like the DoW series, for the great si-fi universe. Although i do play warhammer 40k, i still like the futuristic setting.
I have both and Dawn of War has a much better multiplayer game because it has so much diversity. CoH is and awesome single player game, but it lacking in the multiplayer department.
DoW - Fast-paced bloody action.CoW - Methodical and brain-using battle of superior tactics.Technically, it is all based on your preferences.

[/QUOTE] You also may want to factor in the fact that Company of Heroes is based off of real history, so if you're a weak student or just don't like a history lesson, go for DoW. If you're a military/history nut like me, you'd love CoH.
I've played both multiplayer CoH and DoW, but DoW never came close to matching CoH as far as intensity and sheer ''whoa snap'' moments. I mean, Space Marines are great and all, but compared to watching six 105mm batteries unload on an advancing column of Nazi armor? Or watching the enemy flee in terror when an unexpected Tiger tank comes tearing through the buildings they thought were good cover? Doesn't get cooler than that. Neither games are forgiving online, the opponents tend to be pretty underhanded and sometimes downright sleazy, but that just makes it more fun when you win.(And you wouldn't BELIEVE some of the crazy tricks people come up with in CoH....)
All this talk about CoH is making me want to play again. I am now regretting giving it to a friend a short while back. I guess I will have to go pick up a new copy in the morning.CoH is a great multiplayer game, but I play so many other WWII style games that it just gets to be too much sometimes.DoW on the other hand is a very strategic game. You have to know what unit can counter the enemy unit the best. You have to know a units strong points and weak points. Squad control is a must, and also squad observation while fighting. Best places to attack. When to attack, and when to defend. There are so many different types of strategy you have to know in order to truly succeed in DoW that it can be overwhelming. But, I guess the same thing can be said about almost any RTS. Except for the few where it doesn't matter what you play as, if you can rush the enemy in less then 3 minutes you are going to win everytime.
If you liked Warcraft 3 then you will like Dawn of War over Company of Heroes. I say you start with Dawn of War. The game is a great strategy experience.
