This is why WiC really kicks ass...
I made this montage of World in Conflict gameplay with the broadcast tool. These are just some of the moments why I love the game so much.2007 GotY? I think so.This is why WiC really kicks ass...
cool montage im stuck on the next to last lvlis the multiplayer good? This is why WiC really kicks ass...
cool montage im stuck on the next to last lvlis the multiplayer good?
Supposedly the multiplayer is what makes the game so amazing. As in the gameplay makes the mp amazing, but you get my point.
Havent got this game YET but it looks brilliant.
I also love the ending of the singleplayer campaign: http://www.gamespot.com/users/RK-Mara/video_player?id=JnRhw2Gs5b8LuD7bDon't worry. It doesn't spoil anything.
cool montage im stuck on the next to last lvlis the multiplayer good?
Everything you saw there was taken from the multiplayer.
Yeah,I love this game 'cause it don't got all that crappy ''Build a base'' stuff. I'm stuck on the second NATO mission, the 2nd mission after Bannons nuclear yet honourable death =(Btw, I can't seem to get the custom missions working, can anyone give me a vid of how that's supposed to start?

hl2 ep2 question 'spoilers'
where the heck is Barney it seems odd that he doesn't even appear in the gamehl2 ep2 question 'spoilers'
he took a different train to leave city 17 at the end of ep1, dont you remember. His train probably didnt crash like Gordon's.hl2 ep2 question 'spoilers'
Even if he got another train, it seems odd the he isn' t even mentioned in the entire episode.
Barney got tired of waiting for Gordon so he got some beers of his own and is getting trashed with the dumbass security guard from Opposing Force :P
He's probably herding the refugees into the nearest safe-haven.
I guess that they didn't think White Forest would be safe - which is fair enough, considering how every Combine hunter and strider in the area attempted to take it out.

Turning off aero isn't going to do anything as it disables when you launch a game. The TC has never said what theproblem was so I don't understand how he/she expects anyone to assist.skin care

What really old PC games would you like to see brought back?
For instance, Doom 3 was an example of a really old game series that was brought back. So were Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake 4. So when I say a really old game, I'm not talking about games from four or five years ago, I'm talking more like about ten+ years ago.Anyway, the game series I've wanted to see a remake for for quite a while now is Blake Stone. With some expansion upon and modernization of the original content (more weapons and gameplay capabilities, new/enhanced story, modifications of the original art design, etc.), it could be made into a really impressive modern FPS.Another game I'd like to see is another Jedi Knight game. Now, I know the last game made for the series isn't exactly ancient yet, but the game that started the series, Dark Forces, is.Another Duke Nukem would be cool, but that is being done with Duke Nukem Forever (it is still in development last I checked).I would love to see Commander Keen make a comeback. I'm not sure what sort of genre a new game for it would have to be, as I would imagine another 2D platformer wouldn't really catch many people's attention these days. I don't know if it would just be a 3D platformer or what. All I know is, Billy Blaze needs to come back into the picture.Jazz Jackrabbit 3 never did make it out. It'd be nice if someday someone restarted the project. That's all that comes to mind right now. There are of course more recent game series that I would like to see additions to (NOLF, for example), but again, I want try to stick to really old games, mostly those that haven't been touched in forever. How about you guys? What really old PC games would you like to see brought back?
How about Xwing?BTW, hasn't Commander Keen been done recently on one of the Game Boys? Thought I saw something like that a while ago... anyway, I loved those too on my Packard Bell!!What really old PC games would you like to see brought back?
Uh...I wouldnt consider doom 3 really old...Id like to see any of the Monkey Island games redone, or Grim Fandango.
[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]
I want to see a new bioforge or another addition to the magic carpet series, and well of course there's fallout 3 finally coming out.

Xcom 1 and 2 (1994 and 1995 respectively). Crusader No Remorse and Crusader No Regret (1995 and 1996).
Yes, another NOLF! Please another NOLF :P and market it better, alot of people aren't even aware of the game (No One Lives Forever). HeheI have to admit though, if we're talking very old games, I think I was more of a console gamer (versus now where I'm full-time PC), although I did play some PC games too, just that console gaming at the time was more appealing. However, I wouldn't mind seeing an updated Space Quest, maybe done in a comical intergalactic GTA style?
^ I agree about the Crusader games.
I was also going to say XCOM and Crusader. Add Descent to the list as well.

FREESPACE SERIES!!SACRIFICE!!GIANTS: CITIZEN KUBOTO!!DUNGEON KEEPER SERIES!!POPULOUS SERIES!!ALIENS VS PREDATOR SERIES!!BALDUR'S GATE SERIES!!HOMEWORLD SERIES!!FORSAKEN!!KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC SERIES!!HEAVY GEAR SERIES!!hmmm thats just from the top of my head.

Agree with blake stone and descent, and many other on the list as well.I would love to see: star trek armada 3 (but with much larger maps and civilizations)Rise of the Triad 2star wars: rebellion 2deus ex 2 (a real sequel)
My top three have already been listed seperatly here, but I'll list them again anyway:X-Wing Series: WHY hasn't Lucasarts made another one of these? They were on top in an age when ''space combat sims'' were a dime a dozen. I want another X-Wing/Tie Fighter more then any other game out there!X-Com: I know there have been ''pseudo-remakes'' lately, and they all fall short. A good X-com remake would be great! Luckly, there are a few other TBS games out there, so this isn't as high on my list as X-comCrusader Series: Probably the game I miss the most as I have no way to play anything like it (although the Killzone on PSP comes close.) These were great games. Very tactical and strategic I thought. Loved them. Don't know if there would be a market for these now days though (since everything has gone 1st or 3rd person.) Would be nice though.
Betrayal at Krondor, a sequel or remake would be awesome, since this is among the best RPG`s ever made.Moonstone 2Alien vs Predator 3a new Wing commander, made by Chris RobertsFreelancer, not that old, but still...Lands Of LoreEye Of The BeholderCurse Of Enchantiaetc etc
deus ex 2 (a real sequel)
Deus Ex? 2000? That's not an OLD PC game, don't even need DOSBox pffft :P Totally agree with you bro, and guess what Eidos Confirms Next Deus Ex ;) Maybe this will be a real/quality sequel.
xwing vs tie
AvP and Marathon. This may be off topic, but I'd also like to see a re-release of System Shock 1 and 2 that's compatible with XP and Vista, like they did with the original Doom and Quake games. I know that's highly doubtful, but it would be nice.
I think a remake of No One Lives Forever on the TF2 Source engine would be incredible. NOLF has that same kind of crazy gameplay like TF2.

hexen
Ok, I got HEXEN off of Ebay a while ago, and when I installed it and ran SetUp(and chose SOUNDBLASTER for my sound card), it makes the game run EXTREMELY SLOW! But when I choose ''No Soundcard'' it runs fine. What is the problem?hexen
Wow, haven't heard about that game for quite awhile! You'll probably need to goto start>run and type in ''dxdiag'' (no quotes) and go to one (or all) of your ''sound'' tabs and turn off or greatly reduce the sound acceleration. This is the method if you're using Windows XP, I have no experience with Vista so it may be different.edit: just remember to put a note or post-it or something somewhere to remind yourself to put the acceleration back up to full when you're done! I like to do that when I play all my old games in DOSbox.hexen
Yeah, Hexen's problem is the sound making the game run really slow(and returns to normal speed when I don't have a sound card selected). And I have a problem with Duke Nukem 3D not displaying anything, but sound comes through
If its hexen 1 your best bet is to download skulltag and run it through that. Works great with doom, doom II, and the hexens. Also gives you a bit of an online community to mingle withwww.skulltag.comif its hexen 2 i duno what to tell you..

I would of made a list but so far all the hyped games have just been big letdowns like Bioshock. Demo's of UT3 and COD4 have also just shown that all ''next gen'' means is better graphics but with the same boring gameplay, if i wanted to play COD2 and UT04 i would play them, don't understand why they'd keep the same gameplay but ok w/e. So really the only game that will probably win my game of the year is the Orange Box collection, maybe Crysis will be good aswel but have to wait and see, judging on the MP beta which is a october 07 build it wont be though.Top 5 Games Coming Out For This Year

CRYSIS Is simply....
Amazing. This game deserves no lower than a 9. So much variety to kill your enemies. Super interactive environment. If Bioshock (WHICH WAS A GOOD GAME NO DOUBT) gets a 9 then this game deserves a 9.8 AT LEAST. Lowest 9.5. The ending of the demo was simply ASTOUNDING! Its a well optimized game. I got around 15-30 fpsMy specs are:1950 pro3800 dual core2 gb ram I ran everything at HIGH LOL! It was still playable. For multiplayer im definately using med settings.CRYSIS Is simply....

I am so amazed at the physics I just spent half an hour throughing barrles into a house.

OK I'm a first time moder and i want a really plain computer case to make my own. I want it to have the power button off to the side instead of the bottom middle, I want it to only have Two CD/DVD bays and one floppy bay. If you could give me a link to somewhere I could by this it would be nice. Ps. I live in Canada so it needs to be able to **** there. I need a really plain computer case
I guess i wrote Sh#t instead of ship my bad :)I need a really plain computer case
If you want so few external drive bays have you considered a SFF?

The Witcher or Crysis/COD4/UT3/GoW?
Hey guys, am I the only one who is looking forward to the Witcher more than Crysis/COD4/UT3/GoW? Who wants the Witcher the most? Here's a little poll to see..Im so excited for the Witcher, it looks like its gonna be an RPG greater than its predecesors, especially the combat system. Whats everyone think? The Witcher or Crysis/COD4/UT3/GoW?
You know what Im Hopeing? Im hopeing something stupid and small like Soldier of Fortune turns out to be really really awesome, and destroys all the hyped games. For some strange reason i think it will :) BUT at this point, Hellgate London is my next buy.The Witcher or Crysis/COD4/UT3/GoW?
I am all about COD4 right now
Do you mean The Witcher more than all of them combined, or The Witcher more than any single one (so that, for instance, if you were looking forward to The Witcher more than three of them, but still were looking forward to one of them more than the Witcher, you would still vote for Crysis/COD4/UT3/GoW)?Either way, my vote is for the second option.
RPGs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FPSs
Im looking forward to ut3
I think I actually would but The Witcher instead of all of those other games.Great FPS games come out every few months, but great RPGs are extremely rare.
Do I have to choose?
The Witcher wasreally dissapointing:( Any use of the word 'babe' in a traditional Swords %26 Sorcery RPG is enough to put me off, but awful dialogue aside, the game looks dated (I know it's an old-ish engine, but it's distinctly underwhelming) and the combat mechanics were frustrating enough to persuade me to return it the following day. I know I only experienced a few hours of the story, but it just didn't grab me at all, maybe it's just too slow to get going for my liking, I just know I didn't enjoy it.
You only get to buy one game a year or something?
Ohk, and I mean The Witcher or only one of the other 'hyped' games
The Witcher seems like its going to be a good storyline. That I REALLY like in an RPG. Oh and I love Dark Heros like Gerault. Crysis I think it going to be a great fast action, blow the crap out of the world fun with a decent premise. CoD4 I demoed, was good fast action fun but just a little too arcade for the combat. I could have never been shot that many times and still shoot an AT. But good graphics and great action. UT I havent played any of them so I can't really say. GoW I waved it off again because of the arcade style combat. I'm not saying arcade stayle is bad. But I prefer the GRAW mechanics where when you get shot, yur arse is dead. So out of the list I'll be getting The Witcher and Crysis.
BTW, everyone has to watch this trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27143.htmlOne of the best game cinematics ive seen

The Witcher - Sharing the Game? - Digital Download uk.Atari.com
Currently on uk.Atari.com there is a digital download of The Witcher available for $72 US. Of course, this is a horrendously high price for a game, but it is the uncensored game and it is something that can be gotten now instead of a week from now. Here is the kicker, the download boasts that you can download it multiple times and that you can even burn a copy of the game to DVD. Does anyone know if you could then just keep the downloaded version for yourself and give the burned copy to a friend? I want to buy the game but the price is to high, so I am considering splitting it in this fashion. If anyone knows that would be great. The Witcher - Sharing the Game? - Digital Download uk.Atari.com
Not a bad idea, how many times can you download it?The Witcher - Sharing the Game? - Digital Download uk.Atari.com
$72 seems awfully expensive. double check what ure getting? are atari giving u multiple licences (so that, for example, u can legally put the game on any PC in ure house)? double check the terms of service. if its multiple copies then u and a few mates could chip in and reduce the individual price if u know what i mean.

Sims 2 wont install
Trying to install the Sims 2, but it wont start up. I put the disk in and it does nothing. I try to start it up from the desktop, nothing works. I've tried both the CD and DvD drive (4 disks in total, not DvD disks) not responding. I looked at the disk and I saw some smudges around the edges that wont come out and some scratches circling the disk (first one). I'd like to know if I can get this to work without having to buy a new copy.Sims 2 wont install
Anyone? I'd like to play this...Sims 2 wont install
Here: Got an error message, it says: ''A Hardware I/O error was reported while accessing E:\AUTORUN\AUTORUN.BMP.''Is this SecuROM conflicting with it? I have installed the game off of this disk many times, but I didnt think it would do this. Hopefully this advancement will get me some help...

Crysis runes like magic on
my specs are in my sig and Im running everything on Very high DX10 and Is there ultra setting? The games runs smoothly but slows down abit in battle but not by much(I havnt ran Frpas yet)I was running at 1024x768 hows it running for youCrysis runes like magic on
no idea, I'm downloading the demo right now! As far as I know I just need to buy me a good Direct X10 graphic card and I could run it at medium settings or slightly high.Crysis runes like magic on
Does it only run on DX10 cards or will my measly 1600 run it on low settings?
So I'm guessing an E6850 or Q6600, 4 gigs of ram, and an 8800Ultra will run this game way better...

it doesn't require a dx10 card but i don't know how your 1600 will run it

Funny, on my father's system (E6400, 8800GTS 320MB, 4GB RAM), it runs far below an acceptable framerate on all very high settings, same resolution. In fact, it doesn't run acceptably at all times on all high settings in Vista, though it does in XP.

yeah but couldn't he meet up in the missle base?
he was in a train with citizens trying to get as far as possible from the citadel, they were probably going to a safer spot than white mountain.

Really Smooth
Crysis SandBox 2
Where you installed Crysis, there is a folder called Sanbox editor 2 installer. Open it and run the installer and you can find the exe in the bin32 or bin64 folder. I'm running it as I type =pCrysis SandBox 2
Thank you !!! weeeee!!! im installing it now!
the sandbox editor is already in the demo..they kinda hid it away though...Im to lazy to describe....but look around for the readme file...it has information on it.
It takes only a few mintues to find out how it works. I never messed with the far cry editor so this is my first time. Spawned a couple tornados and lumberjacked as many trees as I could. It took me awhile to figure out that the aliens weren't in the editor yet lol.

Hey Lonelynight! Are you trying to save files to a different drive? Then you have the same problem as me. I had to reinstall steam to another drive! But you can transfer all game content to that drive and it is as if it was already downloaded.About the speed...man that is always an issue, but patience gets you there.
hmm no complaints here about speed.. I get an average of 600+ Kb/sAlso if you wish you can back up your games so you don't have to redownload the content.. Under: File, Backup GamesYou should be able to move those backup files wherever you wish, since you can make backup files of CD-R length or DVD-R length. I personally have never used it... though I should.. but to do that I would need a new external drive to hold all my content.. (I hate making DVD-Rs)

When you start up steam, it will recognize that you have already the content on its folder, and since you own the licence it will analize them and put them at 100% ready.I did this with a buddy that came to play at my house (awww just like kindergarden) I had Red orchestra installed, and Instead of waiting for him to dl the game at my wife's computer, we simply copied via LAN the content of the RO folder from my computer. So, what card would you guys recommend to play Crysis with maxed out settings?
Asking here since you guys are already playing it...So, what card would you guys recommend to play Crysis with maxed out settings?
im running on a 7800 gs with med specs but this games is designed for a 8 series card so 8800 or ati 2900So, what card would you guys recommend to play Crysis with maxed out settings?
I am looking at the new 8800GT cards coming out soon, i'll have to wait and see some benchies after release to decide if I will buy or not but the previews of it are looking awesome. w/ my Q6600 and 7600GT I get Med, 1 set on high on 1024 x768, it still looks good but of coures I want to max it out soon.
Posting so I can see bignice's post... Darn glitchspot.

I have an x1900xtx and I can play on medium with only the water turned on high. My gpu is one of the best dx9-only gpu's, so it's rather depressing. I'm selling it on ebay right now and I plan on picking up an 8800gt when they launch this coming Monday. To run the game on high, I think an 8800gt/gts is the bare minimum.
Max everythinig DX10 with really good FPS? SLI some 8800ultras.For high settings a single 8800gts should be good.

God... PC gaming's getting really expensive... :P
I hope my 8800 GTX is capable of running it fairly maxed out. My AMD x2 4200 OC'd to 2,6 is what I'm most worried about, Intels crush my CPU in performance... It's pretty clear when I play Gothic 3. A great CPU is alpha and omega when it comes to 8800 GTX. Anyone tried this game with an AMD and a GTX?
I tried the demo and played fine with 1152x864 resolution with all graphic settings on High and AA4x. But I got a single core amd athlon 64 3200+ processor, and that was what made the game lag when something massive happened.

Getting started with scripting in the Source Engine
I really want to start working on making mods on Valve's Source engine. I'm looking for pretty much anything that can help get me started: Online FAQs, Books, anything. Also, if any of you have any experience with working in the Source Engine, any tips or tricks would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance :DGetting started with scripting in the Source Engine

Crysis Demo Optimized Way better than Beta!!!!!!!
If your Rig didnt work for the beta, dont be discouraged. The Demo works for me on med specs no prob and the beta had lots of frame loss and tearing. Not with the demo, it it simply awseome 9.8 in my book!!!Crysis Demo Optimized Way better than Beta!!!!!!!

Well im happy for you guys but Im kinda po'd myself. My computer is powerful enough but my chipset isn't supported so no crysis for me...
The game is not optimised that amazingly. I get the same FPS as before. Impressed with game, not impressed with optimization.
be sure to get the lastest nvidia drivers that came out today 169.01 oct26th
With all medium settings I'm getting low 20s in action, low 30s in none-action. Thats pretty good for my system and the fact that I'm playing it in 1280x1024. I skipped the beta so I cant really compare. My specs are 4200+ X2 (OCed to 2.6GHz), X1900GT, (OCed to 5800MHz), 1 Gig RAM (my 2nd GIG of ram gets here from NewEgg on Monday).

I can't believe how big of an improvement the newest nvidia beta drivers provide. I started playing the demo with the previous beta driver...I was getting around 10 fps on very high with an 8800gtx and a 3ghz AMD X2. With the newest drivers it's 30fps or better all the time on very high. I run it on high though just so it's 45ish or better ALL the time.Get the newest beta drivers for nvidia cards if you haven't already.

I'd have to go track down fraps but on my system im playing at 1280x1024, 16xAA, and everything on High and it runs smooth as can be. If it dipped down in frames i never noticed. my guess solid 40 or 50fpsRig:

Anyone played Empire at War?
Hey people, I'm sorta new to the PC gaming scene and I haven't got the best computer, however I found out my computer will be able to play Star Wars: Empire at War and me being a big Star Wars nut and all wants to buy it. So I came here for a question, has anyone got or has played Empire at War and if you have, what do you think? This will beonly myfourth RTS that I have owned, the others being Galactic Battlegrounds, AoE and C%26C. Thanks for reading.Anyone played Empire at War?
I personally think its a great RTS game in SPACE but the ground combat is boring as hell but its still a very good game.Anyone played Empire at War?
Empire At War is actually a pretty good RTS. You can controll land and space battles using various Star Wars characters and ships, online matches, a downloadable map editor from their website...you'll get a lot of mileage from it. Just make sure that when you buy it, try to look for the version with the Forces of Corruption expansion pack included as well. It'll save you a few bucks.
Empire at War is a great game. I'm also a Star Wars nut so you'll probably like. Just don't get the expansion pack for it cause it's really bad.
Great game, not too difficult so for a somewhat-new-to-RTSer, it will be just fine. Like Anthony9000 said, space is great, ground is ''meh.''
It's one of the best RTS games for Star Wars fans. Worth the purchase if you can get the expansion with it as well.
Ive plaeyed it and it was fun till it lasted.SPace is fun ground well not as fun aloso not many games online these days
I think it's way better than C%26C, Galactic Battlegrounds, and maybe the later AoE games, and is more in league with Rome : Total War-like games. It's got a great map to manage individual planets and you can have battles on the planet and in space above the planet with lots of units and structures from the Star Wars galaxy. BUY IT!
Empire at War is a dumbed down RTS.. It is no where near as challenging or fun as many others out there.. I completely disagree with the people who are saying the game is spectacular... For one, space is 2d meaning hardly any strategy in movements.. Secondly ground combat is GOD awful, I MEAN ITS REALLY REALLY AWFUL.. Its the kind of chore that there are mods made for the game to make auto decide more in the players favor because they do not want to take it.. Space combat has been out done by a game 3 years older, Homeworld 2, and the person usually with the largest force wins.. Its graphics are subpar and homeworld 2 yet agian beats it out.. Campaign screen is meh at best, there are far better games out there.. In the end if your a starwars fanatic play it I guess.. But if your into RTS's I can name you DOZENS that are far superior to it.
I really liked Empire at War as well as Battlegrounds. I actually think Battlegrounds might be a better RTS because it has amazing ground combat, and EaW is kind of lacking. But the space aspect is really cool and I enjoyed being able to use the special ablities of Darth Vader, Han, etc.
It's one of the best RTS games for Star Wars fans. Worth the purchase if you can get the expansion with it as well.
Yeah because its one of the only star wars rts's out there... That doesn't make it wortht he purchase...

Need help with Metastasis 3
I am stuck right after the reprogrammed turrets, when you're on your way out, up to the surface. A combine shield is in my way and I can't find a way to deactivate it :(I have already placed grenades just about everywhere that looked like it could have made an openning, but to no avail :(Can someone enlighten me please?JDL Need help with Metastasis 3
If I'm thinking of the right part, you should be able to roll a grenade through a hole in the floor of the upper hallway right before the combine shield that you're talking about. Right you are my dear Luccaface! :) Thanks a lot.JDL
If I'm thinking of the right part, you should be able to roll a grenade through a hole in the floor of the upper hallway right before the combine shield that you're talking about. Story connection between FarCry - Crysis - FarCry 2?
So will there be some kind of story connection between the 3 games? It's pretty obvious that they are all similar and Far Cry 2 is coming out Q2 of 2008 so that is only like 6 months after Crysis. Or is CryTek just going to be known as the jungle shooter company?Story connection between FarCry - Crysis - FarCry 2?

Could you spare us all from any more of your ''obvious'' observations?1) Far Cry 2 is not even being developed by Crytek. Not only that, but Far Cry 2's story is in no way related to the Original Far Cry's story. It's set in Africa and revolves around rival factions.2) Crysis also has absolutely nothing to do with the original Far Cry's story at all. At any rate, even if Crytek wanted to continue the story, they couldn't as they do not own the IP to Far Cry anymore.

Stream PC Games over your Network!
From Kotaku!Okay, this is a little complicated, so bear with me. StreamMyGame is a plugin for your computer that allows you to play PC games one one computer on another computer over your home network. Say you have a PC capable of running BioShock, but you want to run it on your laptop in the living room while watching your soaps. Yes, you watch soaps. StreamMyGame encodes the gameplay into a video stream so you can view it as a movie on your lower end PC, while passing your keyboard and mouse commands back through the network to control the game. Since the game is converted into a video stream, it also allows you to record movies of your gameplay in MP4 format, sharing it with others on StreamMyGame.com or setting it to Slipknot music and uploading it to YouTube.
Hmm, maybe I'll advertise my new gaming website here too. Reviews, Previews, Features, etc'. Free to join %26 each new member gets a 40'' LG lcd HD ready TV !!!..Stream PC Games over your Network!
Yeah,I saw this.Seems pretty cool, though if you had a sucky PC,I couldn't see it rendering fast enough.
Yeah,I saw this.Seems pretty cool, though if you had a sucky PC,I couldn't see it rendering fast enough.
Yeah, I was just thinking that. I don't know if you'd get the stream looking/playing any better than if you just installed the game on the slower rig. Neat idea, but unless they can convert it to a video stream really fast, it's probably too clunky to make it worth using, beyond the novelty factor.

I have a pretty good computer, but my internet connection sucks. I live in a 100 year old apartment in San Francisco, so it doesn't have a cable or phone line. I have to use a PC card, and it isn't fast enough to do anything really cool.
''We are embarking on a new paradigm in the gaming industry fuelled by advances in computer hardware, network speeds and the want of gamers to have more freedom,'' said Richard Faria CEO. ''We network the power of their main PC so it can be used to play high end games on other PCs and laptops around the home. I believe the demand for high resolutions will drive the sales of high end PC hardware''.You know they're serious when they pull out the 'new paradigm'. If anything it's a neat little widgit to screw around with when you are bored. I currently use three different PCs throughout the day, and often find myself wishing I didn't have to move around as much. Sloth rocks. Signing up for an account at the website is free, though premium accounts that allow for higher resolution video and such. The serive hopes to expand in 2008 to allow playing over broadband, and a Linux version is in the works that would theoretically allow you to play PC games over your Linux-installed PlayStation 3.
StreamMyGame launches Game Streaming - Broadband, Linux and PS3 to follow. StreamMyGame.com is set to revolutionise the gaming industry. This free to join website provides its members with a free plugin that converts computer games into IPTV channels called Game Streams. StreamMyGame enables games to be played remotely by converting a game's video and audio into a Game Stream and sending it over a home network to a laptop or second PC. The game can be played on the laptop without any lag and the laptop does not need to have the game installed. StreamMyGame is compatible with both Windows XP and Vista, with all computer games based on Microsoft's DirectX8, DirectX9, DirectX10 including the latest games such as FIFA 08 and BioShock and OpenGL standards. Game Streams can be created with resolutions up to Super HDTV 3200 x 2400. I believe the demand for high resolutions will drive the sales of high end PC hardware''. ''We will release a Linux version in Q4 2007 which will enable PC games to be played on the PlayStation 3 and many other devices including DVD players, set top boxes, networked media devices and mobile phones,'' he said. StreamMyGame will extend its services in Q1 2008 to enable games to be played remotely over broadband networks that have sufficient capacity such as Verizon's FiOS. Publishers will be able to use StreamMyGame to establish Pay-for-Play services. StreamMyGame also offers its members the ability to record and broadcast gameplay and includes a free MP4 video player. ''An easy solution to record your gameplay and upload it to the web has been demanded by gamers and StreamMyGame delivers that. Our YouTube ready MP4 format keeps file sizes low,'' said Joanna Softly, Marketing Manager, ''and broadcasting games at LAN parties so everyone can watch the final from the comfort of their own PC makes so much more sense than crowding around one monitor''. CryEngine Sandbox Editor 2
I don't know how much you guys have played around with the editor but... I was playing around with the TAC launcher (mini-nuke grenade launcher) and I noticed how little affect it had on buildings and such. Is there a way to modify the power of the weapon so it has a bigger area of affect? I didn't really see any tutorials for it so whatever you guys figure out would be cool.
Crysis Performance
What FPS are you getting at what settings? And what are your specs?Think anything will change by the time the game officially releases or is this the real deal? Crysis Performance

I run on med/high with AA off and I get like 20-37fps, in action less :( Crysis Performance
well I was forced to run it in dx9 idk why it wouldnt load up for me in dx10 and from what i hear dx10 offered better preformance...I ran good for me on all max 1680x1050 but not like silk how i wanted
Is there a console command to show FPS?
Getting around 30-40 with medium and a couple high at 1680x1050 no AA on vista 64. Gunna play around with the settings to see what I can put to high without an impact.
from what i read the dx10 version is where its at plus the demo isnt the final build im sure...Ill def buy it
15 to 30 FPS on high at 1024x768 on my 7900GT. Still playable, but I plan on upgrading to an 8800GT.

Crysis. meh. Now I REALLY can't wait for Soldier of Fortune Payback
Crysis offeres nothing new after FarCry. And the suit thingy has been done in Halflife. If you like holding the shift run button 97% of the time across barren jungles then this game is for you. lol if you don't want North Korean's swearing at you then play it on the hardest difficulty and they speak North Korea.I never played Farcry, so I look forward to Crysis cause I won't know that it is like Farcry, so It'll be something new and fresh for me ! :D
Payback is gonna be awesome from the looks of it, but I highly doubt it will be any better than Crysis. :P

I thoroughly enjoyed the demo and not even for the graphics. I think it is incredible how many ways you can kill a person in this game. If you haven't played with the destructable environments you are missing out. Bravo Crytek Bravo!
IMHO this game deserves nothing less than a 9.8 forget graphics, this game is in a league of its own in that category, Gameplay and the style of the game is spectacular, Crytek delievered well and the game ran as smooth as SILK!. beautiful...Bravo Crytek Bravo!
the smartest thing crytek did was releasing the game editor a few weeks before the game...that guarentees a huge amount of content when the game actually ships.Bravo Crytek Bravo!
The game better have character model damage (or at least skin damage). It will be pretty pathetic if the vegitation is more interactive than the enemy models.
i just played the demo, and i must say, im severely unimpressed. regardless of how beautiful the graphics are, the game is just what far cry was. far cry was okay, but crysis is years later and they could have done something better. the thrill of the nanosuit powers ran out as soon as i used them once as well. all the people who say crysis is awesome is because all they are interested in is graphics. i feel bad for all the people who want to buy new computers just to play far cry over again.
I think it's cool that apparently (from what I've heard, haven't had the chance to download the demo yet) the people that got it to run, are relatively happy with it, in the sense that a few months ago even before the betas people were going nuts about how much power would it require, that the game would run like **** on 1- year hardware and we'd have to wait bla bla yadda yadda, but of course, those were unrealistic thoughts since nobody would buy the game with that premise.

I feel sorry for people who stereotype games assuming that good graphics = bad game. Crysis is excellent and offers more than any other FPS to have come out this year. Your loss.
I love Crysis, and while I'm wowed by the graphics, they most certainly are not the only thing I care about. I completely disagree on the point that it's just like Far Cry. It's pretty similar, yes, but honestly, did anyone ever expect it not to be? Is there anything wrong (or at all surprising) with it being a lot like Far Cry? I certainly don't think so.
out of curiousity, how is not exactly like far cry?
The graphics and game play are really, really good. And it seems to run surprisingly well on my system. But it is true that the game is almost exactly like FarCry so it does lose points for lack of originality. I would give it a 9.4.And how can you not make the FarCry comparison? The very same island. The very same two person boats. The very same jeeps, the very same camps. It really is just a redone FarCry. But like I said before I don't think that is really a bad thing. FarCry is one of my favorite games of all time! Still I don't think you can call the atmosphere new or original.

all the people who say crysis is awesome is because all they are interested in is graphics.
For much I love this statement, unfortunately this has been the trend for a long time now. All about flashy graphics and no brains, but graphics are where the $$$ is.
I think later on in the game...when everything gets frozen it will show it's uniqueness.I've never played Far Cry so it's all new to me :)
out of curiousity, how is not exactly like far cry?
Destructible enviroments which if you have played the demo for enough time really add to the game and possible ways you can go about a situation, Nano suit leads to many possibilites depending on which play style you want to choose. You can go stealthy and not be seen by your enemies or you can go str and punch everyone to death running and gunning. Weapons customization allows yout modify your weapons to how you see fit or what situation you are going into. Physics, you can do some amazing things thanks to it. It isn't a far cry clone, it is far better.

And the game layout is even the same with how you are being guided around the island by a guy on the radio. It seems silly that they didn't just make this the sequel to it.
i always knew gameplay of crysis was going to excellent, but i had few doubts regrading how crysis will run on my machine, but needless to say i am running this game nicely and it looks gorgeous. well done crytek for an overall excellent game :D
Well for starters, I am not bored by the suit features at all, so they stand out as a big difference to me. There are advances in what you can physically do to objects, such as many buildings being destructable, and more objects being interactive, not to mention the much, much better physics (in other words, there is a good deal more physical andvisual interactivity). Far Cry's physics were deplorable. The AI is better (not by miles, but still better in my opinion). The feel of the game is one closer to a real-world simulation than Far Cry, and not just because of the photo-realistic art design. Weapons are more complex, both because of add-ons and because... how do I put this? They just seem much less like they're just point-and-shoot, like range and other conditions come into account more than before. It's hard for me to express it, as it's sort of an abstract difference that I can't explain. Oh, for one thing, the enemy seems to be more hindered by being shot than in Far Cry. In Far Cry, it didn't matter how much you popped rounds into that merc, his flinches did absolutely nothing to slow him down. In Crysis, men can be knocked down by a surprise shot, and they sometimes pause in their movements and attacks when hit (meaning they don't just always flinch like they're being pricked with apin). The combat in general is just sort of different, better in my opinion. It lacks the cheesiness factor of Far Cry (voice-acting, plot). There's more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.Basically, the way I see it, Crysis took mostly only the good parts of Far Cry and implemented them, left out most (not all) of the bad parts, and added in more good stuff.
That was in response to Kwispy.

Lets put it this way, Crysis looks a lot closer/more similarto FarCry than HL2 looked to HL1. Anyone can see that.
*cough* demo *cough* I love how people judge the whole game from a demo.
the smartest thing crytek did was releasing the game editor a few weeks before the game...that guarentees a huge amount of content when the game actually ships.Bravo Crytek Bravo!

I love Crysis, and while I'm wowed by the graphics, they most certainly are not the only thing I care about. I completely disagree on the point that it's just like Far Cry. How much longer will BF2 be around for?
Well I play and love BF2. I just find the gameplay great and the way I work towards new medals, badges and ribbons means I keep coming back for more......but how much longer will it be before people stop playing it?I honestly don't know but its proved a massive success and other massively successful pastgames like CS 1.6 are still going reasonably strong. So how long do you think?:?How much longer will BF2 be around for?
Good question, it still has a while yet to go :P Yeah, that's vague, but if you keep an eye on Xfire's top games, BF2 is always there + no game comes close to it's popularity for modern combat + supposedly there are still servers for 1942 even. EA's true support was lost a long time ago.I'd guess maybe 3 years before it's difficult to find a server, uh maybe :) Alot also depends on if another modern combat game comes out that can replace it, maybe COD4, or maybe a BF3.I had ALOT of fun with BF2, but I'm not playing it any longer, I found it too time consuming (if you are competitive in nature) and wanted to enjoy many other games...yet  I am still looking forward to COD4, maybe that will be the one to draw people away from BF2.Ask the ''experts'' :P :P http://forums.bf2s.com http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/index.php How much longer will BF2 be around for?
until ea release a BF3?

FYI xfire-stats aren't accurate. CS 1.6 isn't going 'reasonably strong'. CS 1.6 has more players than CS:S and it's been in the top5 best selling games all platforms here in sweden atleast 6 months straightIf you want BF2 to last, keep playing it! There's a big enough fan base to keep that game going even after ET:QW comes out, and eventually you'll get BF3 which'll probably be awesome, so I think you're safe.

I believe that the answer to this is: as long as people keep playing it on ranked serversThe explanation: If a bunch of guys want to play the game, they will pay for a server. And in fact, they will pay for a RANKED server so they can get their points and awards tracked. Now, EA has a ''partnership'' with the guys that maintain those ranked servers. This means that EA gets money from everyone that pays for a ranked serverWell, the bottom line is that BF2 will last as long as gamers are paying to keep their ranked servers up (as I said before, this is because EA is getting part of that money). So, if you like BF2, keep playing and supporting (if you can) those ranked servers!!!
It'll go on for a loooong time. There are still people that play Delta Force Landwarrior. Granted it may be a smaller amount of people but it's still going. I don't even think EA can beat the popularity of BF2. BF2142 came close but didn't overpower BF2 and make it obsolete. Hell, Vietnam is still around with people playing it. BF3 would have to be pretty damn phenomenal to replace BF2. CoD4 still has yet to be seen. I hope they change the gameplay a bit. I just enjoy more of the teamwork aspect of BF2 over CoD2.
Its going to last a pretty long time. People are rank hungry so it keeps going and going.

i have never understood why people like counter strike, you die very easily and the whole no respawn thing is just a pain in the arse especially when trying to learn the game . if counter strike had respawns and different game types like r6 vegas i reckon it would rock . as for bf2 people will play it for a long time i reckon about 4-5 years before people stop, i play about 3-4 times a week i like the game but i am waiting for something better to come a long, hopefully crysis has a good multiplayer aspect but don't count your chickens yet. remember QWET what a let down. give FEAR a go online it's a lot of fun but there are no rank system or rewards that's probably what lets it down

Crysis is Really consuming US pc gameers
Ok ever since this game was shown people have been builting Rigs around just this one game. This game has been debated for months about if it willl even run at all.People have been waiting for a chance to play it and when the did in the multi beta it cause alot of dissapointed people on threadsand no we have people complaing about the games DEMO the DEMO being delayedI heard the demo runs better but ot by much in some systems wars thread. This game has consumed us. Though tommorow you and I will be playing this DEMO by ourselfs alot.Comments and opinionsCrysis is Really consuming US pc gameers
Well I built my PC for Bioshock, Unreal Tournament III, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, and all the other great games coming out in the future along with the games I already have. I didn't build it just for Crysis.Crysis is Really consuming US pc gameers
The only problem with crysis is why everyone and their brother thinks they should be able to max out a state of the art game with a 3 year old graphics card which most people have. Why do they have these. Well three years ago a little game called half life 2 came out. Also doom 3 and a lil later Fear. Well everyone upgraded for those games and now its time to upgrade and they are b!tching..? THis has always confused me and is the only argument among gamers with this game right now. Instead of b!tching just upgrade as we as pc gamers need to do frequently anyway and play it in all its incredible glory!
I built a new PC because it had an oldass 6600GT and a P4 processor with only 1GB memory. And tbh, i am more excited for The Witcher now than I am for Crysis.
well alot of companys got riding on this game, intel microsoft, nvidia.... and it worked, intel sold alotof quad cores, microsoft sold vista for dx10, and nvidia with the dx10 cards.

well the problem is that it has been more than a year that a new high end graphics card has been introduced, that is why i believe crysis wont be maxed by anyone.BTW LTZH how does your rig perform in fsx, people seem to complain a lot about it.
I built mines for Pangya.
Well, going by what Cevat Yerli said, those of us with the high end DX10 cards and good processors should be able to max it out completely and run it smoothly. I'm really excited for this too, and i've seen some screenshots of the demo from other forums. It looks absolutely amazing, even just on medium quality. Better than ANY game on its highest settings. But i've also been reading stories about how badly optimized the demo is and how crappy it runs. It's definitely something to think about. Yerli stated that they optimized the actual game really well, so i'm sure that the demo isn't much of an indicator as to how well the actual game will run.In the end, i'm sure those of us with 8800GTS 320/640 or 8800GTX will be able to run the game at least on ''High'' settings. Whether we'll actually be able to run it on ''Very High'' settings is yet to be seen.
I would be more impressed with Crysis if not a single person could play the game at high settings! If crysis was built to take advantage of computer hardware that didn't even exist, this would drive the upgrade cycle and accelerate the pace of technological improvement in computer hardware. This is what makes PC gaming great, it is always improving. If developers created games that max out using 2 year old video cards, then no one would bother upgrading... ever.If this was the case with PC gaming I would sayF it, I am playing console gamesexclusively from now on.
Really I bought a new PC for soo much more reasons: Kane %26 Lynch, Crysis of course too, UT3, Hellgate: London, Assasin's Creed and World in Conflict.. And I think I forgot some ...
Built for HL2 and Oblivion. My next build will be for fallout 3.

How can you max out R6 Vegas but not Quake 4? Quake 4 uses the Doom3 Engine. If you can max R6 Vegas you can max Quake 4 without any hint of a hitch.

Is the demo out already? Is it any good?I am far too busy with TF2 to even care about crysis right now, and tomorrow my copy of the witcher should come...I think I might even skip the demo, seeing as how the game is only a couple weeks off now anyway.Hardware-wise, I'm still using the same rig I built late 2005 for F.E.A.R - besides the 8800gts I got for the UE3 games like bioshock and airborne. Crysis is on my pre-order list and i'm excited for the editor if nothing else, but it just doesn't strike me as seeming like all that greata game. Will be glad once it's out, though, so we can as a community move past it...

Are there any other QWES players out there
I don't use theWASD format, but rather QWESkeys.q = leftw = forwarde = rights = downSeems most people use WASD, but my fingers are closer to hitting the numbers with the QWES setup.discussAre there any other QWES players out there
I never play with QWES format. Are there any other QWES players out there
I never play with QWES format.
I'm one of few crazy people who use Arrow keys, it can be done but my advanced key mapping is....strange..to say the least :-)
Used to be an arrow keys man, now I'm a WASD man.
WASD just so much more practical
WASD has the same ''shape'' as arrow key which is why they were made the standard, having the left and right keys next to the forward key would be confusing for somepeople.Personally I'm juststubbon, been using arrow keys since 1990and won't change.I use Cntl, shift, enter, del, end, Page Down 7,4,1 and 0 (insert) for my control keys. for some games I use even more of the Keypad and ofcourse my extra mouse buttons.
Yeah, I find the WASD setup to be more preferable.
i stopped using it that way in like 1990, but doesnt the extra reach take more time?
I'm a WASD user myself. I've tried the QWES layout a few times, but never really liked the feel of it. I guess I could edit the keys to where it would be more logical to the form of my hand, but when using the QWES style, I was still having to stretch to press the spacebar to jump and CTRL to crouch and what have you. It just didn't seem to be the way for me.

Hiring someone to take OBLIVION screenshots
Hi all - doing a design project for my class and we're evaluating backgrounds/screenshots of the best looking games out there. If you have a high-end video card and can take 1920x1200 screenshots with 4x anti-alisasing, then I'd like to hire you to take some screenshots. (I'm working 2 jobs, simply don' t have time to play the game and do them myself!) Please look at the pictures below, as these are EXACTLY the kinds of screenshots I need.
Also note these requirements:
* Change your Field of View to 100 or 110 to get a wider view. I belive the command is simply ''fov 110''
* The ground/floor MUST occupy about 25% of the image. Again, look at the screenshots below and take notice of how much of the floor is in the scene.
* There should be NO Interface on screen, no text, and no charcters (little animals are ok)
http://www.reallyswell.com/images/screengrab_obliv_1_800.jpghttp://www.reallyswell.com/images/screengrab_obliv_2_800.jpghttp://www.reallyswell.com/images/screengrab_obliv_3_800.jpgI need about 50 screenshots or so and I am paying $20 for them all (you need to have Paypal for payment). All you need to do is enter God mode, go to different areas of Oblivion and take some really great screenshots.
First come first serve - I'm only going to hire one person to do this. If you want the job, simply go in the game, take 3 screenshots just as described above, and send them to me at: trizzaypics(at)gmail.com. If I like what I see, you're hired.
Thanks all,
Edskin care

I have a question.....................
Do you have to have Half life 2 to play Half life episode 1? I have a question.....................
Do you have to have Half life 2 to play Half life episode 1?
It's not required as far as I know, but you're really gonna want to play through HL2 before you touch the episodes.
If you want to understand the story a little better it would be good to play Half Life 2, because Episode 1 starts off right where the main game left off.
I would recommend it, but then again, I never played half-life 1 and loved HL2, although I don't know if there was a continuation, I just jumped into the story. Ill probably get HL1, after all, they preloaded it to my PC, so they (valve) are begging me to play it. :)just get the orange box!!!

Orange Box is $49.95 on Steam and it's a much better deal just to get the whole thing than each individually. You get five games for $50 instead of just Episode 2 for $30.

You are going to finish episode 1 and be left wondering what happens in the next installment and quite possibly end up purchasing Ep2 later on down the road. Instead you want to just play a single game right in the middle of it all, not knowing what's happened prior to it and what's going to happen afterwards. I wouldn't pass up the chance of purchasing the Orange Box while it has the price tag that it does on it. It's 5 awesome games, for a great price. I mean, there is a good chance you will fall in love with Portal and after you play through Ep1 I'm sure you will be compelled to play Ep2. And also having TF2 in the background just waiting to be played is a plus.

Well might as well wait till Half life 3 to come out.................................
In 2014...
IF we make it to 2014.......world won't make it that far. We'll go KABOOM!!! in 2012. So pray we get to 2014 at least till 2050......
I would recommend it, but then again, I never played half-life 1 and loved HL2, although I don't know if there was a continuation, I just jumped into the story. Ill probably get HL1, after all, they preloaded it to my PC, so they (valve) are begging me to play it. :)just get the orange box!!!
Half-Life has a separate story to HL2 unless you want to dwelve into the Black Mesa incident...
